This building’s lofty name ties it with the Alley Theatre, and many people make the mistake of assuming the two are one. In fact, the Alley Theatre Center was built 15 years later and for the most part the 15-story structure is a 1,000-space parking garage. The top three floors are for the use of the Alley Theatre for offices, or performance space, or whatever. You can see where the transition is made by noting the balcony which hangs off the side. One of the architects involved in the project compared it to a Halloween jack-o-lantern.
