At the time, he was still a Lutheran. He became Catholic shortly before his death in June, 1939. Wendy - Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006 @ 9:55am • Rating: Five stars.WHAT?!?!?! I had no idea that this might happen! I was looking for the phone number to call about classes- this is sad news! The Co-Cathedral is a beauty in the midst of the downtown hustle and bustle. We have to preserve it! kristina kennedy - Thursday, November 2nd, 2006 @ 10:34am • Rating: Five stars. If the demolition of this beautiful church takes place, this will be a tragic loss to the city. It hurts my heart that this site were this historic church sits will become a parking lot! Joe Cao - Monday, September 18th, 2006 @ 8:10pm • Rating: Five stars. This cathedral is so beautiful, its almost 100 year olds. The Diocese reports the historic church is unsound. If it were really unsound why would they still use it for daily masses? This church must be saved. I urged everyone reading this please go and contract the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance to do your part in saving this beautiful and historic church. Jon L. Church bureaucracies are known for being truly horrible stewards of historic structures (particularly their own), and here's a classic example. Historic churches give urban areas, particularly those in decay, cultural cohesion. They MUST be protected. I can't imagine that the city (and the citizens of the city) would allow this one to go. It's urban art.
